Overview

The Outcome Model is Kaptio’s delivery methodology. It replaces open-ended custom project delivery with a repeatable, AI-assisted approach that produces predictable outcomes for customers and sustainable economics for Kaptio.

Discovery → Golden Configuration → Working Software → Scoped Customization

This sequence is non-negotiable. Every customer engagement follows this path.

The Four Stages

1. Discovery

Discovery is Kaptio IP and stays in-house. It is never outsourced to delivery partners.

Discovery produces:

  • Validated requirements mapped to platform capabilities
  • Solution design document
  • Estimation with scoping artifacts
  • Golden configuration specification
  • Formal SOW for implementation

Who owns it: Consulting pillar of the SLO.

2. Golden Configuration

Every engagement starts from a proven baseline configuration, not a blank canvas. The golden configuration is the set of platform settings, data models, and integrations that represent the standard starting point for a customer segment.

  • Derived from successful prior implementations
  • Reduces time-to-value by eliminating repetitive setup
  • Makes estimation more accurate (delta from golden config, not from zero)

3. Working Software

The goal of implementation is working software as fast as possible. Not perfect software. Not all software. Working software that the customer can use, validate, and build on.

  • Partner delivery teams execute against the SOW
  • Milestone-based delivery with formal acceptance criteria
  • AI-assisted governance tooling tracks progress

4. Scoped Customization

Custom work happens after the golden configuration is running, not before. Customization is:

  • Explicitly scoped under formal change control
  • Estimated using the same AI-assisted tooling as discovery
  • Tracked as discrete work items with clear acceptance criteria

What we don’t do: open-ended custom threads, scope creep absorbed without change orders, customization before the baseline is validated.

Principles

  1. Repeatable over bespoke — if we’re doing it for the third time, it should be systematized.
  2. AI-assisted is the default — estimation, scoping, governance, and artifact generation are AI-augmented.
  3. Partners scale, Kaptio designs — we own the methodology; partners execute implementation.
  4. Time-to-value over feature completeness — working software first, then iterate.
  5. Change control is non-negotiable — every scope change goes through formal process.
